Our findings

The Château de Gauthié is hidden in a huge 8-hectare park. It is a beautiful traditional Périgord manor house, whose oldest part dates back to the fifteenth century. Facing the park is the nineteenth-century château, a huge, yet elegant building entirely converted for use by guests with a terrace, large lounge and dining-room on the ground floor. Four large and very comfortable guest rooms, filled with daylight, overlook the park from the first floor. Below the old château, near the lake, you will find some lovely Highland cattle grazing in the long grass, and some impressive cabins perched up in the trees. One of the cabins is a guest room, and a breakfast basket is raised up on a rope pulley each morning. The largest cabin can sleep up to five people and has everything required for a long-term self-catering stay. It offers an unmissable, timeless experience, cut off from the outside world in the depths of the countryside. In the evenings, Stéphane, who previously worked as a cook, can rustle up delicious meals using fresh local produce on request. The meals are rounded off with a digestif under the arbour. Guests can relax in the beautiful swimming-pool or the jacuzzi at the end of the garden. There is a wide choice of markets, vineyards, châteaux, farmhouses and villages to visit in the surrounding Bergerac countryside with its rich history and heritage.
